To Be With You

I want you near at the first break of dawn
when flowers are kissed by the dew.
I need your love like the earth needs the rain,
like spring needs a haven of blue.

I want your smile when the bright noonday sun
caresses your cheek and your hair
as you walk down the rose-bordered pathway,
a picture of loveliness there.

I want to hear the sweet sound of you voice,
to be with you where ever you are,
when God gently draws the curtains of night
and fastens them shut with a star.
